Cross-Examined by the Court.
Before we leased out our property 2 years back we had
exaggerated reports from tenants. The contractor is paid by each
particular job. I have had our contractor for 5 years. lle is a
satisfactory contractor. We do not inspect the work after it is
done. During the late boom we had several inquiries for the proper-
-ty. I believe the loan on the block was I think a lack of dollars.
The offer for the property was considerably less than would have
been accepted. The amount we received for rent of the block is
considera cly below the amount of interest payable in the mortgage
dept.
Chew. Cheuk declared and examined. I all master of the Wing Hop
firm. On the 25th. or 26th. of May letter 6 was Liven to me which
I read. I went to lios. 7 and 9 tue next day. I saw cracks like the
cracks on the wall of this Court. The cracks were one-twelfth of
an inch. I saw o cracks. The widest cracks were two-twelfths of an
inch. I charged 820. This was for the cracks and other jobs. I put
cement and bricks close to the joss house. I filled the cracks with
cements. I went there a week after. There was no change and on 2
days afterwards I went again. There was no change. I saw har. laurray
I told r. urray that the houses were old and I could not give un
opinion about the houses and asked him to send for an architect.
No question by Jury.
Patrick Robert Lurray sworn and examined. I am Assistant of the
China Provident Branch. The last witness said perhaps it would be
advisable to get an architect.
Cross-examined by the jury.
I told Mr. Taylor and he said he would see to it.
Henry Hervert Taylor recalled.
